At the 43rd Hong Kong Film Awards, “Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In” won in 9 categories! (You can read about the nominations here.) I will share some fun little stories from the award ceremony.
Louis Koo arrived at the venue in an Uber Taxi and gave out coupon codes.
This year, Louis Koo arrived in an Uber Taxi that he appears in commercials for (you can see the actual commercial here). According to his Instagram, arriving at the venue while still in the car was a first in Hong Kong Film Awards history. He even gave out limited coupon codes. This seems like great advertising.
Louis Koo mentioned the film’s success in Japan
During an interview that day, he said: “I’m very happy not only about the good box office numbers but also hearing that the BBQ pork rice with egg that appears in the movie is becoming popular in Japan.” (Related article here.)
The success in Japan seems to be very meaningful for Hong Kong’s film industry.
The “BBQ Pork Rice” comedy skit
Staff delivered takeout BBQ pork rice to Raymond Lam. From the back of the audience, Derek Yee, the chairman of the Hong Kong Film Awards Association, pleaded: “No eating here! Go back to the Kowloon Walled City to eat when you win an award! And give that BBQ pork rice to me!” (Related article here.)
The “Fifth Youths” comedy skit
The Four Youths (Raymond Lam, Terrance Lau, Tony Wu and German Cheung) went on stage with “Sugarcane Man” Chu Pak Hong, who won Best Supporting Actor for “The Last Dance.” Chu tried to sell himself, saying: “I want to be in the sequel of ‘Youths’ too, as the fifth person!” (Article here)
The official movie’s Weibo posted the video.
Family performance
When “Twilight of the Warriors: Walled I” won Best Film, Aaron Kwok, who appeared in this film but was nominated for another work, also went on stage. On stage, we could see the amazing lineup of Aaron Kwok, Louis Koo, and Raymond Lam standing side by side.

Foreshadowing paid off? BBQ pork rice was served at the “Kowloon Walled City” (celebration party)
According to Jozev Lau’s X post, after the awards ceremony, BBQ pork rice was served at the “Kowloon Walled City” (celebration party), just as the Hong Kong Film Awards Association chairman Derek Yee mentioned in the comedy skit. I wonder if the chairman got to eat the BBQ pork rice? (lol)
Update (April 29): The movie’s official Instagram has uploaded a video of BBQ pork rice being served at the celebration party! (So exciting!)
